Season Poem

Every season comes round yearly
Cold winter days help us think clearly
The days are shorter and quite dreary
But holidays make some folks cheery

Spring brings with nicer weather
Birds wash and fluff their feather
People seed and mow their lawns
and others sneeze from dusk till dawn



Some folks sneer at summer days
They hate to sweat and soak up rays
Others enjoy the sunny beaches
and summer fruits like pears and peaches

Falls brings out pretty leaves
that drop so gently from the trees
The days require longer sleeves
and soon folks feel a cooling breeze

Winter months are drawing near
and snow will come by end of the year
Some folks cheer the holidays
others leap on skis and sleighs

Everyone has their own good reason
for picking out a favourite season
And some folks also make quite clear
their own least favorite time of the year

On The Banks of Plum Creek

Everything was beautiful and good, except Laura. She had broken her promise to Pa.  Breaking a promise was as bad as telling  a lie.  Laura wished she had not done it, but she had done it....

"Well," he said at last, "I hardly know what to do Laura.  You see, I trusted you.  It is hard to know what to do with a person you can't trust.  But do you know what people have to do to anyone they can't trust?"
"wh-at?" Laura quavered.
"They have to watch him." said Pa.  
"so I guess you must be watched.  Your ma will have to do it.  So tomorrow you stay where Ma can watch you.  You are not to go to out of  her sight all day.  If you are good all day, then we will let you try again to be a little girl we can trust."

Cerita di dalamnya kuno, yes....it comes from the past...

Tetapi seperti semua kebijaksanaan masa lalu yang selalu abadi, demikian juga nilai-nilai dalam keluarga dan masyarakat dalam buku inipun bersifat universal dan abadi.

Kejujuran yang ditanamkan pada jiwa-jiwa muda dengan cara yang tepat akan menjadi mercusuar penjaga hati dan tingkah laku tanpa harus melalui kekerasan dan ancaman.
Dia akan mengkilik-kilik dan menggelisahkan jiwa bila dilanggar walaupun tidak ada yang melihat.
